In 2019, Polestar and Cherrydeck joined forces to connect performance electric cars and outstanding visual content in one exclusive photography and driving experience.
The mission was simple. For the introduction of the Polestar 1 in the German market, Polestar teamed up with Cherrydeck and created a photography competition that gave photographers the chance to be one of the first people to drive and photograph the car in Germany.
Three photographers were chosen in each of the five biggest German cities — Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, and Düsseldorf — to put their hands on the steering wheel of the Polestar 1 and drive it for two days each.
The goal? To capture the experience with amazing photographs in their home city and win the competition.
Who were we looking for?
To participate in the competition you didn’t need to be a car photographer. The ideal candidate was required to have a minimalist and very clean style, matching the Polestar brand.
The applicants should have the ability to create great photographs of their driving experience and be willing to share the content during the competition on social media. Good knowledge of the city where they would be photographing in and a solid local network were also plus factors.
What was the prize?
Besides being one of the first people in Germany to drive the Polestar 1, the winning photographers got an additional €4.000 for the photography buyouts, the possibility of running an exhibition in the Polestar showrooms, and were added to the pool of creatives the brand wants to work with.
All the other final contestants received a €1.000 award for participation.
